About PEACE-SALONE

People's Effort Advocating for Community Empowerment Sierra Leone (PEACE-SALONE) is a Local Non-Governmental Organization in Sierra Leone, that was established on 13 April 2014 by Sierra Leonean Aruna Kamara.

We are committed to contributing to national development through civic empowerment programs to promote greater and active participation in decision making and raising the voices of citizens in the democratic governance of Sierra Leone.

Our work is guided by global organizational strategies and Sierra Leone's Mid Term National Development Plan with specific thematic strategies aligned with national development priorities.

Plastic Waste Reduction Campaign in Bo City
  • 100 Youths trained on plastic waste collection across Bo city
  • 10 Primary schools and 10 secondary schools targeted on environmental sanitation
  • 20 school authorities engaged on waste management
Strengthen Access to Justice for Vulnerable Population in Rural Areas in Bo District, Sierra Leone West Africa
  • 100 parents trained on good parenting and referral pathways on sexual and gender based violence
  • 5 court monitors trained on gender based violence cases
  • 30 schools engaged at assemblies on gender based violence referral processes
  • Collaborate with 5 legal professionals and law firms to establish pro bono initiative
Advocacy on Hygiene Promotion in Schools in Bo City
  • 20 schools targeted on hygiene education and awareness campaign to promote hand washing with soap, safe sanitation practices and food hygiene
  • Distribute hygiene kits which includes soap, hand sanitizer, sanitary pads and hygiene education materials
Preventing Youths from Substance Abuse in Bo District
  • Organize parental workshops on recognizing signs on substance abuse for 100 parents and caregivers
  • Develop and launch a social and multi media campaign on risks and consequences of drug abuse
  • Establish 10 community and 10 schools support networks to report substance abuse cases
  • Engage law enforcement agencies (police)
Gender and Youth Leadership: Breaking Stereotype and promoting Equality in Bo District
  • Trained 10 gender activists across Bo district to promote gender equality in their various communities
  • Engaged 5 Women led Community Based Organizations on gender laws
Organizational Development for Effective Service Delivery in Bo District
  • Trained organization staffs on Organizational Management for 5 organizations including PEACE-SALONE
